Bill was born in Santa Monica, California on November 19, 1949, son of Elmer Le Roy Upchurch and Mattie La Verne Condra. He graduated from Narbonne High School in Harbor City where he received his high school diploma. William married Hortencia on December 13, 1986. Bill worked in construction, a shipyard, and was the owner of an alarm system company, he had many talents such as electrician, maintenance worker, and engineering. He was also in charge of manufacturing and distributing golf- products in the United States and Mexico. William's last role was as president for Morris Group International Industry in Mexico at FMM, managing the manufacturing products. His hobbies consisted of the love for cars, surfing, and motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time at the gym and target shooting.
William is survived by his wife, Hortencia Upchurch; his daughter Michelle Lynn Upchurch; his son Travis William Upchurch; his son Justin Aaron Upchurch; his son Jason Garrett Upchurch; his brother Albert Leroy Upchurch and sister Joyce Lavern Upchurch, his grandchildren Gavin Matthew Upchurch, Gwen Elizabeth Upchurch, Brandon Jay Upchurch, Megan Upchurch, Michael Patrick Stafford, Tod Anthony Stafford, and Mario Upchurch, his great-grandchildren Brooklyn Upchurch, Connor Upchurch, Layne Stafford, Travis Stafford and Levi Stafford.
A Celebration of Life for William will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A catholic funeral service will occur Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Chula Vista, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California 91910. A reception to follow at 3:30 PM.
