Tom Harrison was born in Sapulpa on January 21, 1934 to Kenneth and Lucille Harrison. He was born and raised in the Methodist Church. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1952 and earned a football scholarship to Coffeyville Junior College in Coffeyville, KS and in 1955 he earned his A.A. Degree. He then went on to Southwestern College in Winfield, KS on a football scholarship and in 1957 he was awarded a B.A. Degree. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army, was stationed in Germany, and received an Honorable discharge in 1959. In January of 1960, he was hired as a teacher and coach by the Sapulpa City Schools. In December of 1960, he married fellow Sapulpan, Betty Newman in the Methodist Church where he later took his 2 children. In 1964 they moved to Chula Vista, CA where he was employed by the Sweetwater Union High School District as a teacher and a coach. In 1969, he became a counselor and remained in that position until he retired in 1997. He received a M.A. Degree in Counseling and Human Behavior from United States International University in San Diego in 1974. He is survived by his son Doug Harrison and his daughter Melinda Shah and his three grandchildren Justin, Melissa, and Preston Shah.

A graveside service for Thomas will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association.
