A child of the Midwest, Joan Roloff was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1935. As a young woman, Joan was a draftswoman for the Milwaukee Gas-Light Co. and attended college at Wisconsin State College, where she met her soulmate Leon "Lee" Roloff and married in 1956. After Lee was drafted into the Army, she joined him in Germany where they had their first child Mark.
Upon returning home, they decided to create a new life together and take Route 66 to California. They jammed all their possessions and a one-year-old in a station wagon. In time, Lee taught Ceramics at El Capitan High School while Joan gave birth to her two California girls Lisa and Julie. Together they created their paradise in El Cajon, CA .
While Joan focused on raising her children, she created a loving and supportive environment and was able to be creative and express beauty through her love of gardening and sewing. She also enjoyed swimming and had many treasured friendships from the Edible Garden Club of El Cajon and other helping organizations she joined.
Joan (85) passed away in peace while surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her parents Lucille and David Klingbail and her beloved husband Leon F. Roloff. She is survived by her three children Mark Roloff and wife Lynn, Lisa Roloff and Julie Wright and husband David. She also leaves behind 2 grandsons, Justin and Joel Roloff who she was very proud of. She is also survived by her brother Richard Klingbail and wife Sandra and their four children Cheryl, Angela, Paula and Richard Jr.
She will truly be missed, but we know she is heaven with Lee.
