March 30, 1926 – May 18, 2021
Mary Jane Robles Gonzales, passed away peacefully in her home in Chino, CA, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 95 years young and preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Gonzales. Her parents were Joe T. and Lydia Robles. Mary Jane is survived by their 3 children, Larry Gonzales, Loretta Gonzales and Paulette (Paul) Ojinaga; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings, Bill Robles and Ruben (Stella) Robles; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane met her soul mate, Paul, when she was just 9 years old. They married 10
years later and had 58 years of wedded bliss. She was a decorated high school athlete who played softball and ran track, usually barefoot! Her love of sports was evident as she could be found cheering on her family and friends at their own games. She instilled in her family the value of education and wouldn’t hesitate to help with the cost of tuition, books, school supplies or conference fees. Mary Jane had a wide circle of friends and travelled the world. She was an accomplished seamstress who made wedding dresses and had her own drapery business, yet still found the time to lovingly create Halloween and dance costumes for her family. Mary Jane was also a fashionista, impeccably dressed, always coiffed, loved her high heels and wore wedges into her 80s. She was a faithful member of her beloved Catholic church and prayed the rosary devoutly.
Above all, Mary Jane was strong, funny, independent, and always spoke her mind.
Mary Jane will be sorely missed by her family and we will always carry a piece of her in our hearts. She will always be the wind beneath our wings.
