Martin " Marty " Zendejs was born November 2, 1964, the 9th of 10 children, to Genaro Lopez Zendejas and Ninfa Zendejas Guerrero in the City of Zacapu ( Place of stones ), Michoacán, Mexico. At five months, he along with his family , emigrated to the City of Chino, California where he would attend Richard Gird Elementary, Ramona Jr. High and Don Antonio Lugo High School.
Following in the footsteps of his older brother and kicking idol, Tony Zendejas, Marty would earn a full ride scholarship to the University of Nevada, Reno where he would smash Tony's records and become a three-time All-American placekicker. Marty would meet his future wife, Cindy, in 1983, and they were blessed with their first daughter , Melissa in 1984 and later with their second daughter, Melanie, in 1992. Upon finishing his kicking career at Nevada 1987, Marty played a short time with the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Cobras of the Arena League.
Upon concluding his football career, Marty would go on to own several Mexican food restaurants with his parents, brothers and sisters. A warm and charismatic host, people flocked to various Zendejas Mexican Restaurants to socialize with Marty. He is survived, by his daughters, Melissa, and Melanie, ex-wife Cindy Zendejas, brothers Javier, Jose Luis, Genaro, Eduardo, Raul, and Tony and sisters Maria Dolores, Celina and Claudia as well as many nieces and nephews.
