Mr. Wayne Lamarr Loftin 66, passed away August 29, 2014 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, Salisbury NC, after a period of declining health. Born on January 7, 1948 in Concord, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Howard Loftin and Ellen Smith Loftin of Kanapolis and Ocean Isle Beach, NC. He was the grandson of the late Susan Smithdeal of Kannapolis. He was preceded in death by a brother Keith Howard Loftin.
A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Loftin served in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed with Kannapolis Sprinkler Company for a number of years and was owner of Journey’s End Lounge in his earlier years.
After moving to Calabash, NC, he was owner of Calabash Siding and Window Company, having enjoyed living in Calabash for over twenty years. Upon returning to Kannapolis he joined VFW Post 8989, serving a Canteen Manager, before retiring due to declining health.
“Wayne L” or “Paw Paw”, as close friends called him, with his good nature and love of life brought many friends from far and wide. His rhythm and rhymes were infectious and so was his laughter and he will be missed by many. An avid NASCAR fan, he and his friends camped in the in-field in his motor-home at many races throughout the years. These memories will remain in our hearts forever.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Lamarr Thomas Loftin of Rockwell, NC and three grandchildren, Layla, Hunter and Samara Loftin.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 11:00 til 12:00 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral at 12:00 pm also at the funeral home with committal service at Salisbury National Cemetery at 1:00 .
