Virginia was born May 8, 1929 to the late Ditzo and Gertrude McLaughlin. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sutton and grandson, Seth Sutton.
Virginia graduated from Landis High School in 1947. She worked in the apparel and textile industry until her retirement. She was well known for her love of and skill in cooking and making sourdough bread. It’s estimated that she baked and gave away over 6,000 loaves of bread to family, friends, and her church. When she wasn’t cooking or baking, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Shelia Sutton Whitehead (Don) of Clyde, NC and Keith Sutton (Christiane) of China Grove, NC; Grandchildren, Amy Monday (Steve) of China Grove, NC, Megan Flanagan (Pete) of Knoxville, TN, and Kristen Decker (Matthew) of Huntersville, NC; three great-grandchildren; Samantha Monday, Lachlan Flanagan, and Lenora Flanagan. She is also survived by her sister Clara Turrentine of Boone, NC.
It brought Virginia great joy to sew teddy bears that were given away to campers at Victory Junction Camp – which is a free camp for children with serious medical conditions. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Virginia be sent to Victory Junction Camp, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317.
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
