Norma Louise Deal

Mrs. Norma Shears Deal, age 85 of Norwood, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Trinity Place Skilled Nursing facility after a period of declining health. Born October 31, 1937 in Alleghany Co. Virginia, Norma was the daughter of the late Bedford L. and Helen Sprouse Shears. Norma graduated from Covington High School, then from Medical College of Virginia (VCU) with a nursing degree. She later obtained her teach certificate and entered the field of education where she taught biology and chemistry at West Brunswick High School in Shallotte NC until retirement. Norma was very talented as she enjoyed cooking, painting, quilting and sewing. She and her late husband, Roy, also enjoyed the outdoors and were avid hunters and snow skiers. Most importantly Norma was a faithful and supportive wife to her husband of 47 years whom she loved dearly. Those left to cherish her memory her son Glenn Humbert (Meleta) of Shallotte, stepson, Melvin Deal of Laurinburg and stepdaughter Sandra Deal Carter (Edward) of Georgetown SC. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Katelyn Rawson (George), Alex Humbert, Jacob Deal, Brain Carter and great-grandchildren Audrey Glenn Rawson.

Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove.
