Mary Ellen (Stiller) Knight

Mrs. Mary Ellen Stiller Knight, age 91 of Salisbury, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Compass Healthcare in Spencer after a period of declining health. Born September 2, 1930 in Rowan County, Mary was the daughter of the late Preston E. Stiller and Beatrice Beaver Stiller. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Knight and siblings, Hazel Stiller Pethel, Fannie Mae Stiller Cantrell and Gene Stiller along with her grandson, Jarrett Nathan Schenck. Prior to her declining health, Mary was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church, where she served in various capacities over the years.

Mary spent her career working in the textile industry. In her spare time, she love gardening and growing her own beautiful flowers which she would then repot in lovely containers to sell at the flea market. She also enjoyed painting ceramics and collecting Depression glass – she traveled all over to add to her growing collection. She loved family gatherings, spending the holidays with her beloved family and she cared for them dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vickie Knight Burrage (J.P.), sons, Terry William Knight (Phillis) and Ricky Wayne Knight (Joyce). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ashley Renee Grady (Tim) and Melissa Schenck along with her great-grandchildren, Alexis Taylor Schenck, Rachel Lee Grady and Harper Renee Grady. Also surviving Mary are her sisters, Joyce Stiller Lucas and Phyllis Stiller Watson (Michael) and her brothers, Ted Stiller (Brenda) and Roy Stiller (Lillie), along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mary will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Funeral Service will be in the Chapel on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 2:00pm officiated by Rev. Bruce Graham. Burial at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove will immediately follow.
