Mr. John Robin Hinson, 56, of Salisbury passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his home. Born on March 11, 1962 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late John Robert Hinson and Brenda Peacock Basinger and step-father, Jimmy Basinger. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, he was of the Baptist faith. Early in life John enjoyed building and racing dirt track cars. He became a Master ASE Mechanic and could work on anything with a motor. He was a true patriot who served his country in the US Army Reserves, loving his country and flying his flag proudly. His family, his many friends, and Christ Jesus, above all things, was the most important things in his life. His favorite verse was Isaiah 41:10. He was a mechanic for Salisbury Rowan Schools. In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Angela Helms Hinson; son, Airman First Class, John E. Hinson (Abby); daughter, Misty Sikes (Jeff); sisters, Tammy Hinson and Stacy Beaver (Terry); grandchildren, Caleb Sikes, Mackenzie Sikes, Keegan Sikes and Grayson Sikes. Also surviving him is his sister-in-law, Shelia Helms; his aunts, Janie Taylor and Mildred “Shorty”, Mary Freedle and Rachel Goodnight; as well as, uncle Luther Cranfield. Visitation and Service: Visitation will be on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m., at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with funeral to follow at 2 p.m., also at the church with Rev. George Bradshaw, minister. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like the give a special Thank You to Dr. Ashley Sumrall, M.D., at the Levine Cancer Institute and Hospice of Rowan County.
