Born in Cabarrus County on February 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles Honeycutt and Berlie Silmon Honeycutt.
In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Pethel Honeycutt, who passed away on January 24, 2010; one son, James Honeycutt, Jr.; one brother, Jerry Honeycutt; three sisters, Daphne Plott, Jane Krimmenger and Audrey Hall, and one granddaughter, Taylor Honeycutt.
Mr. Honeycutt served in the United States Air Force for 8 years and retired from Hoechst-Celanese after 34 years of service as an electrician.
He was a member of Lutheran Chapel Church where he had served on various committees and the church council for many years.
Some of his favorite things in life were hunting and fishing, supporting military activities and watching his grandson play baseball.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Leslie Honeycutt; grandson, Matthew and wife Morgan Honeycutt; one great-grandson, Cade Honeycutt; one brother, David Honeycutt and one sister, Catherine Morris. He is also survived by one granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 16, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Lutheran Chapel Church with Rev. John Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors.
