Born in Rowan County on September 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Gaither M. Sechler and Ida Pless Sechler.
In addition to his parents, his siblings, Oma Deal, Kermit Sechler, Zelia Sechler, Durad Sechler, Duree Safrit, Kathryn Beaver and Ruth Mock, also preceded Harold in death.
After completing high school, Harold joined the United States Army, serving as a Corporal, during World War II.
He worked over 40 years at Cannon Mills Machine Shop and was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Phares Coleman Sechler; children, Zetta Sechler Earnhardt (Doug), and Danny Sechler (Nita) and stepchildren, Robert Himes (Mary), Tim Himes (Kathy) and Joy Burleson (Tony).
Harold is further survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Helms (Neil), Patrick Kirkman (Jena) and Caitlin Earnhardt Brown; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Jordan, Kathryn, Rylynn and Landry; great-great grandchildren, Dawson, Charlotte, Nora, Avery, Tucker, Mason and Weston.
Six step-grandchildren, thirteen step-great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins also remain to cherish his memory.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery in CHina Grove, NC. Military honors will be conducted by Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.
