Edward Brown Rodgers Sr., age 89, of Landis, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Brown was born on October 4, 1934 in Rowan County and was the son of the late Hugh Victor Rodgers and Rachel Irene Honbarger Rodgers. Brown was educated in the Rowan County Schools,and received his GED at RCCC in 2005 at age 69. He worked for many years at Burlington Mills, Cannon Mills and Fieldcrest Cannon. He particularly liked doing his skills in construction as a carpenter. In his spare time, he spent much time hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty Lou Weaver Rodgers and his son Kyle Dexter Rodgers. Those with cherished memories are his daughter Toni Upright of Landis and sons Edward B. "Butch" Rodgers (Angie) of China Grove and Donald Rodgers (Pam) of Landis, along with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral to follow at 2:00 pm also at the funeral home with Pastor Isaac Rivenbark, officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
