Born in Cabarrus County on September 26, 1961, he was the son of the late John F. Upright, Sr. and Betty Jean Brown Upright.
Donald graduated from South Rowan High School and worked several years as a machine operator at Concord Warehouse. He also spent time as a Taxicab driver.
In addition to his parents, his brother, John Franklin Upright, Jr. also preceded him in death.
Donald love Harley Davidson motorcycles; however, his greatest joy was his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Carol Smith (Johnny) of Concord and Leann Bulla (Chris) of Salisbury and his sons, Dale Edward Upright and Matthew Scott Upright (Jennifer) Mooresville; and one sister, Wanda Efrid of Kings Mountain.
Twelve grandchildren, Zachery Smith, Hailey Smith, Tony Ray Shoe, Jr., Dallas Shoe, Dakota Shoe, Johnny Lee Smith, Jr., Krisily Bulla, Charity Bulla, Christian Bulla, Joshua Upright, Adria Upright and Beau Upright, further survive him.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 29, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
