I first met Mr Jackson when our parents, Henry and Annie Braun lived at Willowbrook Estates and were neighbours to Walter and Arlene.  He had a ready smile and a twinkle in his eye that more than hinted of mischief to come.  I thought of him as the Village Mayor and appreciated how he looked out for ‘his people’ and particularly our parents.   
When our Dad was in hospital over a weekend, Walter assured our Mom that he would be coming by to drive her to church on Sunday morning (and very politely declined her invitation to stay for the service 😉)  A few years later when our Mom was in the hospital Walter and Arlene and their family came carolling on Christmas Eve to bring some much needed cheer to Dad and I during a very difficult time.  Kindnesses that I’ll always remember.

Walter & I grew up together, lived on the same st. Palled around a lot played hockey on the street,  did what young boys do.chased girls & had fun .my condolences to the family  welter will durily be missed.by me & many others.         Sincerely sonny. 

Sending my sincere condolences to the Jackson family, I have many fond memories of Jake starting when we were kids, joining the air cadets he was a great friend and a fine man.

My sincerest condolences go out to Aunt Arlene and my cousins and their children and grandchildren.

Uncle Walter was a wonderfully unique individual who accepted people for who they were, rolled with the punches and tried to make the world a better place. He knew (and taught) right from wrong.

For me, he was a solid father figure who acted as a sounding board and the voice of reason when it came to all things in the Jackson family.  He help me navigate my relationship with my mother Genevieve (his older sister) and his input was priceless; after all, he knew my mother longer and better than I because he lived and therefore understood her upbringing!

Rest I  peace, dear Uncle. I will miss you but will think of you often!

We were so very sorry to hear your sad news. We have been, are, and will be, thinking of you all during these very difficult days. He was a special man, a cousin to both Sheldon and me, and we were happy to have him visit in our home the year he was home for his high school reunion. We know that you will miss him terribly, and we will also miss him, although from a long distance. Our deepest sympathy.

My sincere condolences to Arlene and family.  Walter always had a larger than life personality.  My fondest memory with Walter was our trip from Vancouver to Cape Breton Island (my first time to NS) for his dad's (my uncle's) memorial service.  When we arrived at the Halifax airport he went outside to pick out the rental car, which took some time for him to do so as I think he checked out every make and model there was on the lot.  He drove out the airport to the nearest Tim Horton's (which was on the outskirts of the airport) where we were able to pick up some coffee.  On return to the car he turned to me and said "okay you are driving now".   It was so dark, snowing hard and I didn't the roads.   I was so thankful when he finally decided to pull over and get a hotel room for the night before venturing onto North Sydney.  When we were scheduled to return home our flight was cancelled and we stayed in the airport all night to wait for morning flight (while other passengers left quickly to get a room). While I was trying to catch some zzz's on a not so comfortable two-seater bench (definitely not a lazy boy by any means) all I could hear echoing through the airport was Walter's laughter! He was always joking around with someone.  Needless to say I didn't get much sleep but Walter had the time of his life.  Walter, you will be missed.  Keep laughing. Our most sincere condolences to all of Jake's family!! Ina and I had the extreme pleasure of having Jake as a treasured friend, and will miss him....he was a true friend! We will miss his love of life,  his 'no-holds barred' laughter, and the smile he carried whenever we crossed paths. Our thoughts are with you always,
