He will be remembered for his willingness to always lend a helping hand, his devotion to Cathy, sense of humor, and remarkable work ethic.
Steve was born September 23, 1970 in Lethbridge, AB, and currently called Chilliwack, BC home. His passions were music, reading, kindness to animals, the outdoors, and he was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.
He struggled with drug addiction most of his life. It is heartbreaking to lose someone to addiction. The stigma surrounding addiction needs to change. We share this with the hope that if people in your life are struggling in a similar way you will reach out with love and compassion to support them in getting help.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Dunbar, his parents, Bill and Carol Laycock, six siblings: Dan Laycock (Beth), Deborah Forsyth (Nathan), Peter Laycock (LoraLee), Michael Laycock (Jennifer), Christine Laycock, and John Laycock, grandmother Raye Scalone, and fifteen nieces and nephews. Steve was precious to all of us and will be remembered every day.
Because of Covid, a private family memorial service has taken place in Chilliwack, BC.
In honor of Stephen, please donate to Narcotics Anonymous or your local recovery center.
