Shari Greer (nee Dobbin) passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 73. Shari was born Sept. 25, 1943 in East York TWP, Ont. to Thomas and Ossie Dobbin. She was one of eleven children. Shari grew up in Napanee, Ont.. She married three times, the third was the charm. Shari and Gord were together for more than twenty five years until his death in 2004. For nearly twenty five years, Shari and Gord ran their own janitorial company. Shari was active for a time with the Girl Guides and the Lions Club. She was also a poet. Shari was a mother to five children and one step-child.
One achievement to be noted was Shari's relentless efforts in staying involved in the investigation of her daughter's 1975 murder. Her determination helped inspire investigators to finally arrest and charge a suspect 39 years later. Shari was awarded a Diamond Jubilee Medal for her efforts (Nominated by Canadian Parents of Murdered Children).
She will be sadly missed by Carter, Britt and Gordon Jr. and by family and friends too numerous to fit here. Predeceased by husband Gord, son William, daughter Kathryn-Mary and son Donnie. Memorial Donations may be made in Shari's name to Canadian Parent of Murdered Children and Survivors of Homicide Victims, www.canadahelps.org. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Mt. Cheam Lions Hall, 45580 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
