He is survived his life partner of 23 years Deanna Thokle, his daughter Melody (Neil) Froc with granddaughter Melissa (Kevin) Geddert including great grandchildren Rhaea, Edgerin and Vienna, granddaughter Angela (Chad) Goertzen including great grandchildren Maddison, Adriel, Westin, and Yale, granddaughter Brittany (Michah) Galmut, and grandsons Sheldon and Aaron, his son Robert Stewart with grandson Michael (Erin) including great grandchildren Sofi and Evelyn, and grandson Jonathan. His surviving siblings include Margaret, Mary Lee, Paula and Glen (Faye) with several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Alva Atakopus Stewart, his son Jon, his brothers Tim and Alva and his mother Myrtle.
Jon was the second child of seven children of Alva and Mrytle Stewart and was born on August 1, 1934 at Driftpile, Alberta. He travelled extensively throughout his lifetime working in the oil and gas industry initially and then later in mineral exploration and mining. These adventures covered the globe which included various parts of South America, Mexico, the Middle East and all-over western USA and Canada. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and time with his family. He had a generous heart and gave of his time and talents to many. Often, he invited many to come along on his adventures.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday Aug 24th at the Eagles Hall, 386 Fort Street, Hope BC.
