Born in Trail BC and raised in Vancouver BC, Jim was the only child of his beloved parents James & Mary Paterson (predeceased). He is survived by his life partner of 30 years Mary and her son Charles.
In his previous marriage to Joan, he lovingly raised three children including his son Jim (predeceased) and two daughters, Linda (Mike) and Cindy (Jim) and has two grandsons Michael (Keenan), Daniel (Emily) and nine great grandchildren.
Jim grew up in Kitsilano, where he learned tennis, a sport he enjoyed playing into his eighties. Whether he was at the tennis courts, his career as a lithographer, foreman, or just having fun square dancing, Jim’s great sense of humour and cheerful, easygoing personality attracted many lifelong friendships. He enjoyed travelling and numerous other endeavours, including rebuilding his 61 Chrysler, woodworking and building a miniature train-set. Each hobby revealed his meticulous eye for detail and craftsmanship.
He left so many wonderful memories for loved ones and friends and will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Heart and Stroke foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
Memorial TBA at a later date.
