Greg is survived by his loving wife of 24 years (August 26th, 1999) Rose (McKay), his children Tracy (Randy) and Dean, his bonus children Denorie and Donovan, his grandchildren Kate Lynn, Morgan, Alarik, Dawson, Noah, Cameron and Lisa and his brothers Dennis (Diane) and Dwight (Bobbi). This includes numerous extended family members and a very special Aunt – Linda Zaharuk of Chilliwack, BC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Eileen (Gudbranson) and his brother Kris (Sharon).
Following in his father’s footsteps, Greg dedicated over 50 years of his life to the mining industry, starting as a helper and working his way up to the highest level. He took great pleasure in working on projects across Canada from coast to coast to coast, United States, and Ireland. Greg’s expertise and dedication earned him immense respect within the mining community. There are many out there who would say he was the best boss they ever worked for.
Greg enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially at Camper’s Paradise just outside of Sumas, Washington where they kept their campsite for nearly 30 years, traveling all over Canada and the United States with Rose for work and pleasure with their trusty Dodge and Fifth Wheel, woodworking, music and playing his guitar. He always said “you can never have too many guitars”. Grandpa Greg and his grandson, Alarik had a very special bond and he was very proud of Alarik’s musical gifts. He will always be remembered for cracking a joke and that mischievous smile.
Thank you to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, and staff at the Chilliwack General Hospital on 3rd Floor North for providing the best care possible for Greg. You made such a difficult time a little easier through your kindness and compassion.
As per Greg and Rose’s request, there will be no funeral services. However, a tribute in his honour will take place at a later date with close family and friends.
Greg’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.”
