September 16, 1947 – November 1, 2022
Diane passed away at home with family by her side after a long, complicated battle with health issues.
Diane is lovingly remembered by her daughter Leanne, grandchildren Kimberly (Rob) and Ethan, great-grandchildren Liam, Lachlan and Kinsley, as well as her brothers John, Lorne (Carole) and Brian (Annette), brother-in-law Bob (Gladys), sister-in-law Rosemary, her Aunt Lil, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Ed of 49 years, and her son, Bill.
Diane was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba. She grew up in the neighboring town of Newdale, where her family farmed. In 1968, she married Ed Dixon, and they resided in Winnipeg, where they welcomed their first child, Leanne. In 1970 they left their home province and moved to Calgary, where they welcomed their son Bill in 1971, and soon thereafter moved to BC. A few cities were called home in BC before they settled down and established roots in Chilliwack.
Diane stayed at home when the kids were young but then worked at a few jobs before she started working and travelling alongside Ed for many years in the gravel industry. After Ed retired, Diane began working in retail, where she made some great friends. This group of women continued to stay close and visited weekly even when Diane was going through multiple complex medical treatments.
Diane was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a very kind-hearted, generous woman, always helping everyone even when she was struggling with her own health issues. She loved gardening, reading, doing puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. She will always be in our hearts and greatly missed.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Cancer Society or charity of choice.
At Diane’s request, there will not be a memorial service.
Speak of me as you have always done.
Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.
Share the happy memories we've made.
Do not let them wither or fade.
I'll be with you in the summer's sun
And when the winter's chill has come.
I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.
I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.
I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,
But memories we've shared are yours to keep.
Sometimes our final days may be a test,
But remember me when I was at my best.
Although things may not be the same,
Don't be afraid to use my name.
Let your sorrow last for just a while.
Comfort each other and try to smile.
