1929 to 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Albert Willus Kerik, born on November 25th,1929 to Thomas and Elanor Kerik in Bashaw, Alberta. Dad led a great life and lived to 94 years. He outlived his wife Vimy Kerik who he married on October 7th, 1950.
He is survived by his daughters Joanne Codling (Tim), Roberta Leech (Rick) with sons Gary Kerik (Laurie) and Tom Kerik. Albert enjoyed his 5 grandchildren Chelsey Tran (Mike), Erin Leech, Nicole Paquette (Kyle), Jeffrey Leech, Mikayla Rouleau (Kyle) and Coleen Brown.
Albert was also fortunate to enjoy 6 great grandchildren Addie Tran, Evan Tran, Logan Paquette, Mackenzie Rouleau, Landon Paquette and Nova Rouleau. These grandkids and great grandkids would always make his day when visiting.
Albert came from a family of 16 brothers and sisters. He had to drop out of school in grade 8 because the world war broke out and he needed to work the farm. Although he only had a grade 8 education, he was one of the smartest men that I know. He could fix anything and would spend hours helping his family.
Albert had a long career in the oil and gas industry and retired as a consultant in the late 1970’s. He loved to pan for gold and that was his passion in his retirement.
Albert was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Funeral service for Albert and Vimy Kerik will be held at St. Mary’s Church (8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, BC) on May 4th, 2024 at 11 am. Vimy had previously left us during Covid and has never had a service for her.
There will be a reception to follow.
