Waverley K. Griffin

Waverley "Boo Ba" K. Griffin, age 60 of Chicago, IL. Born March 1, 1958 in Twin Oaks, MN. Also, formerly of Anoka and Bemidji, MN before moving to Chicago in August 2004. Beloved wife and best friend of Brendan "Boo Bear" C. Griffin; loving daughter of the late Emmert Jansen and Dorothy Kirkconnell; cherished daughter-in-law of Robert and Donna Griffin; fond sister-in-law of Julie (Michael) Lambert, of Highland, IN and Michael (Eileen, nee Gallapo) Griffin of Chicago, IL; dearly beloved aunt of Sabrina J. Lambert, Michael J. Lambert, Kendall James Griffin, Daniel M. Griffin and Charlotte Mae Griffin; adoring cousin of Robert Kirkconnell of Porterville, CA and Scott Kirkconnell of Russellville, AR; also survived by her friends Bonnie Pearson of Bemidji, MN (Who really misses you Waverley!) and Buster Donat of Bemidji, MN. She will be greatly missed by numerous Griffins, friends and all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Waverley was born the cutest baby you've ever seen. She could talk and walk at 6 months old. She was a Graduate of St. Stevens Catholic School, Anoka, MN, Bemidji High School and attended some courses at Bemidji State University in Minnesota. Waverley loved cooking. Her cooking was out of this world- especially green chicken, parmesan chicken, lasagna, roasts, etc. and she baked the best cookies in the world, really. She cherished family, the outdoors, animals, dogs, movies, putting photo albums together, taking pictures - of almost everything! and carving pumpkins, especially pulling out the gooey insides every year at Halloween. Waverley painted birds all the time and had a talent for drawing art. An example is her talent for painting cards...especially the ugly card with the adirondack chairs on the beach somewhere, that everybody ordered like crazy for some reason!!

She also liked (Loved!) her red Jeep Cherokee Sport, Jasper, as she named him affectionately. Mechanics even knew who the Jeep was at Quick Stop Auto where the Jeep was frequently repaired. She had a cute ability of naming vehicles; Abe the Lincoln Town Car (she once hit two different bears crossing the road in Minnesota in separate accidents the car had a little dent and the bear got up and ran away), Ben the Plymouth Voyager, and of course, Jasper "Red Boy" the Jeep Cherokee Sport and finally two different Malis (Chevy Malibu). Not only did she name her car, she charmingly named her stuffed animals. Examples are, Ducky and Bucky, Harriet the Owl, Owly and Pandy, the dog's chew toy, Owl and Pooh (Winnie). She especially loved Casey the Engineer Bear who she slept with every night in Bemidji before she moved to Chicago. She had gotten Casey in 2003 during a visit to St. Louis, MO for a cousin's wedding. And lastly I have to mention Bear Bear, the white Chicago Bears stuffed bear. She adored Bear Bear's sweat shirt and little stocking cap.

Waverley was a person who would go to a party, family gathering, etc and greet every person there no matter what. She would do that just because that's how nice she was. "Boo Ba" was the best wife a person could ask for - loving, kind and generous...always. She had a charming glow about her. Always making sure I got off to work okay, setting her alarm even earlier than mine. Forever saying "I love you", "have a nice day" and "don't work to hard". She always carried a Tom Sawyer Paddleboat picture of me and always kept it with her (it was of me on the boat). I find it very hard to say goodbye to someone I love so much. I will never be the same, but I enjoyed the time with her to the fullest and wouldn't take back one minute of it. I hope you are in heaven, now looking down on me saying, why aren't you pestering me or jumping around in my sleep and snoring. She listened to crazy stories about my job. She showed distain for my music choices and preferred to listen to Bon Jovi, Three Rooms Down, etc. Boo Ba finally bought me a cell phone...oh her amazing self taught computer savvy!

There will never be another as loving, caring and all around great wife like you. But someday we will both be together. Don't worry, I'll make it through your untimely death knowing you are an angel in heaven watching over me.
