Margaret "Sue" Metoyer

Margaret “Sue” Metoyer, age 85, of Chicago, Illinois formerly of Cloutierville, LA; Loving and devoted wife of nearly 65 years to Edward “Evan”; Devoted mother to Bryan (Kathleen), Lisa (Brian) Trishman and the late Scott; Loving grandma to Jason and Megan and Jason’s fiancé Kristen; Loving sister to Leona (Roy) LaCour and the late Earl Joseph Rachal; Loving aunt to many and dear friend to many more.

Grandma, Mom, Sue, Margie, she had many names, they all had love attached to them. Born Margaret Rachal on September 27, 1934 to Louis T. and Leoda Rachal. She is now in heaven with so many loved ones that passed before her. I suspect you'll find her in the kitchen, probably frying Sukie fried chicken or baking meat pies. Maybe pan-fried pork chops, a big bowl of potato salad and her fresh baked pound cake with strawberries and Cool Whip for dessert.

She will be missed. Everyone who met her loved her, her smile and her joy for life. She adored the many friends she made while working at the grocery stores; all caring so deeply for each other. Her best friends Dorothy, Irene and Mickey and their many trips to the cottage and to Nashville. They laughed so much; loved each other so much. Everyone knew, if you’ve got a problem ‘go ask Marge’ she’ll help you figure it out; she always made time for everyone and had an open ear for anyone who needed it. After retirement, she began working part-time for Loyola University Medical Center and continued to enjoy many close and loving relationships. But the job that her kids loved to tease her about was one she held at Playboy…as a telephone operator. We’d say, ‘Dad, you old dog’. She would smile and giggle.

She enjoyed traveling with her family, so many camping trips all over the US then in retirement to Canada, Hawaii, Italy, so many memories. She loved to garden and sew and bake and laugh and dance, oh, how she loved to dance with Evan. She loved her family. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her family. Her family was her life and she made no qualms about it. She set her mind to taking care of her family and no one could tell her differently. There is a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. We love you so much, Mom. Rest in peace.

Services and Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held privately.
