Ms. Margaret Rose Burks also known as Margie, passed away suddenly on June 23rd, 2024, at the age of 42. Born the 4th of 6 sisters on September 3rd, 1981 in Chicago IL, to Marsha and Alvin Burks who preceded her in death. Grandparents Edward Earl and Mae Lena Burks who both preceded her in death. Stanley and Marcella Mackowiak who both preceded her in death. She is best remembered for being the life of the party, having a soul of gold, and an infectious and warm laugh. Margie entered any room and lit it up. She often found tranquility in dancing, singing, spending time with loved ones and cooking. She was definitely the best cook in the family.
Margaret is lovingly remembered by mother Marsha Burks, daughter Brianna Burks and son Cortez Thomas. Grandchildren Noah Dorsey and Kyrie Dorsey. Sisters, Amy Burks, Ruth Burks, Sharon Ortiz, Joanna Chambers and Rebecca Chambers. Nieces, Mariah Burks, Tatianna Chambers, Ashley Henry, Jocelyn Knight, Aila Ewing, Savannah Ortiz, and Isabel Ortiz who preceded her in death. Nephews, Victor Burks, Sergio Zuniga, Damian Ortiz, Joshua Ortiz, Xavier Williams, Omoro Ewing and Christopher Chambers who preceded her in death as well as a hosts of very special Aunts Uncles & Cousins.
Margaret loved being a grandmother and had just taken her beautiful grandchildren to the waterpark. She was definitely a GLAM-MOTHER and especially bonded with the youngest Kyrie. When she walked into the room all his attention was on her clinging to her leg for dear life until she packed his bag and took him home with her. She will always be remembered as the daughter, sister, mother, cousin, niece, glam-mother and friend that you could go to for anything. She always gave the best most honest advice. Margaret loved life and she lived it on her own accord ALWAYS THE LIFE OF PARTY. She danced as if no one was around and she made everyone else do the same. Her smile and laugh made you laugh and smile. If something serious was happening Margie was not the person you wanted to sit next to or look at. Margie was a loving mother and sometimes she was a little too loving- breastfeeding Cortez until he was five and dressing Brianna in nothing but the finest from the day she left the womb. Margie loved to travel and on her last trip to Vegas she came up with the phrase “we gonna juke for Jesus”. (Insider)……. Her Mother Marsha will always remember Margie as her “thumb sucking baby”. Her sisters will forever remember her as “THE BEST OF US”. Her children and grandchildren will hold her in their hearts for eternity.
Margaret faced many trials and tribulations in her life but she never let that change her heart of gold.
Margie will truly be missed by many. Her death is a true loss to this world but most importantly this family. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and prayed for us at the difficult time.
Margaret, Margie, Marty Mar
