Lou is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edwina Warchol (nee Hildenbrand); his children Debbie Wilkie Spellman (Richard); Curtis Warchol (Kate) and Stacey Shymanik (Adam Schroeder); and his seven grandchildren Kristen Wilkie, Michael Wilkie, Allie Warchol, Kyle Warchol, Max Warchol, Adam Shymanik and Connor Shymanik. He is predeceased by his brothers Raymond Warchol, Bernard Warchol and his sister Dorothy Serafin.
Lou was born on November 21, 1930 to Matthew and Marie Warchol in Chicago. He is a graduate of Weber High School, the University of Illinois Chicago and John Marshall Law School. He had a private law practice for nearly 60 years in downtown Chicago where he specialized in personal injury and real estate law. Lou was dedicated to his profession and respected for his intellect by his peers, judges and clients throughout his career which lasted well into his 80’s.
On June 15, 1958 he married the love his life, “Winnie” and they had three children together, Debbie, Curt and Stacey. They built their dream house in Bunker Hill Estates in 1966 and resided there to this day. In 2004 they became “snowbirds” at Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers, FL where they enjoyed golf, tennis and an abundance of new friends. Lou was a devoted family man with seven cherished grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. His friendships lasted entire lifetimes and he was always there to support people when they needed his help. Lou adored travelling and learning about the world which he was fortunate to do with the people he loved most for all of his life. While he was a very serious attorney, he was forever the life of the party and epitomized the word “fun”. He could turn even the most mundane experience into something memorable. His absence in our daily lives will leave an unfathomable void in our hearts.
