L. David Smith

L. David Smith, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband for 50 years to Marianne; cherished father of Jennifer (Joseph) Martinez; treasured grandfather of Ryan, Natalie and Aubrey; beloved brother of Nancy (Oliver) Carpenter, the late Howard (the late Drema), the late Robert (Janet), Carl (Kathy), Debby (Richard) Drum, Rebecca Morales, and the late Gary; beloved son of the late John C. and the late Effie; fond brother in law and uncle to many nieces and nephews; and friend to many.

David was born in Charleston, West Virginia. He spent every moment with his only child Jennifer and three grandchildren. He loved being outdoors or hanging out in a gymnasium at his grandkids sporting events. He was known for his direct commentary, creating laughs and making friends every step of the way. In his spare time he loved to cook and bake for his family. He was a proud West Virginian who never lost his accent or his love for fishing. He was not seen without wearing a Hawaiian button down shirt or volunteering for team “Crazy for Natalie” in Support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; in which memorial contributions can be made in his honor. http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/davidsmith
