Dear Natalia,
Beth called to tell me of your mom's passing.  I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the services.
I worked with Geri for 20 years at Schubert School.  We lived in the same neighborhood and would give each other a ride to work when we had car trouble.  I also enjoyed going out to lunch with her.  It was never a dull moment. She was a fun lady and will be missed!

     I had the great fortune of being Geri's colleague at Schubert Elementary School.  We enjoyed numerous conversations about life in general.  
     One of her favorite topics was about Natalia, her daughter.  Geri's face would light up whenever she spoke of her.  Geri was extremely proud of how Natalia had and was developing as an adult.  Now, after meeting Natalia, I understand Geri completely.  She was right about Natalia.
     Just as she was right about other things.  Geri had a knack for seeing through people's facades and telling it like it was.  Although, this seemed to make some people uneasy, I welcomed it.  I admired her courage to speak her mind and stand by it.
     Her great strength of character probably assisted her in dealing with the ups and downs of life.  However, one would never have guessed that she experienced any downs by her impeccable and well poised physical prescence.  Geri was an elegant and stylish dresser that stood out in a crowd.
     I will miss Geri, along with her quick wit, her warmth and her unconditional willingness to share her life and educational experiences with me.
     She will be continously in my prayers, which some will definitely take place in her breathtaking St. John Cantius Church.
     Thank you Geri, for introducing me to your church.

To the family of Geri Sweda I am so very sorry for your loss.  Gerro was a funny and caring woman.  She loved her family and the children she taught.  A very easy to speak with person.  I worked with Geri at Schubert Elementary School and what a pleasure it was.  I loved the fact that she was not afraid to speak her mind.  Rest and be at peace.

I can see Geri's smiling face coming to check on her dear daughter, Natalia, an adorable little third grade student.  After an update on Natalia's excellent progress, we shared teaching stories.  What a wonderful, down to earth person!  Imagine my surprise to revisit in physical rehabilitation.  She continued to look great and showed enthusiasm.  I'll miss you Geri, and I'll always have the very best thoughts for Natalia.

Geri was teaching at Schubert School in Chicago when I arrived there in 1992.  She and I became good friends immediately, and have remained so for 20 years.  We both love cats, planting flowers, eating good burgers and fries, and taking care of our homes.  She was a loyal, generous, caring friend, and I will miss her very much.

Geri and I went to Good Counsel together and I remember her as a very sweet, soft spoken, lovely girl. We spent many hours riding back and forth on the Pulaski Rd. bus! I was very sorry to read of her death and my sincere sympathy goes out to her family.

My dearest Mother.  For I will love you forever.  You will continue to live on through me and I will make you so proud. This was unfair and to soon but you are at peace and no longer suffering.  May the heavens bring you love and laughter; for you should only feel emotions of happiness and no more tears; I love you mom, thank you for staying strong and please be my guardian angel forever.

I'm still reeling from the sad, sad news. Our parents socialized in their younger years, so Geri and I saw each other frequently growing up. I spoke with her last in December for her birthday, and will remember her for some time to come. She's in my prayers, for sure.
