Beloved husband and best friend of Linda McHugh, nee Scanland. Loving father of Edward (Katie) and Eileen (Angel Pabon) McHugh; Robert (Jacqueline), Amy (Todd Owen), and Anthony (Karen) Johnson. Cherished grandfather of Robert Jr., Natalie, Zachary, and Aubrey Johnson; and Aidan Gerstein. Big Brother to Stephen (Christine) and Thomas McHugh. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Anne McHugh and his brother Daniel (Mary) McHugh. Loved by his mother-in-law Patricia Krug. Fond brother-in-law of Kathy (the late John Ritter) Scanland, Betty (Harold) Johnson and Ellen Gil. Uncle Ed to Elizabeth and Matthew McHugh; John (Lauren) Scanland and Michael Scanland; Rachel (Joseph) Segvich; Edward (Irene Hernandez) Johnson; Tina (Gerald) Gonzalez; Jennifer (William) Swanberg; Toni Gil and Jessica Ondack. Funeral, Saturday, at St. Bernadette Church, 9343 South Francisco Avenue, Evergreen Park, Illinois, Mass 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
