NORTH SPRINGFIELD - John F. Penney Sr., 84, passed away peacefully at Springfield Hospital on Wednesday morning, January 7th. John was born in Arlington, Massachusetts May 18, 1930 the son of the late Edward J. and Helen J. Penney and predeceased by his brother, Edward Penney of Nashville, TN. He is survived by his sister Eleanor Desrochers of Venice, Fl. He leaves his wife Carole of 59 years, and two sons, John and Christopher. He also leaves 6 grand children and 4 great grandchildren. John graduated from Newton High School in Newton, MA. John spent his working life as a salesman, first in the record industry, as branch manager of Mercury Records in New England, and later as a real estate broker. He worked with his son Chris as proprietors of the “Record Hole” in Wellesley, Massachusetts. John and Carole lived in Wayland, MA for 36 years before moving to Cape Cod. They lived in South Yarmouth, MA for 15 years and moved to No. Springfield, Vermont in 2010 to be closer to their sons. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Chester, VT on Friday January 16th at 11:00 am. A burial will be held at the Lake Cochituate Cemetery in Wayland, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to support St. Joseph’s Church in Chester and Meals on Wheels of Greater Springfield. The Family would like to thank the medical staff at Springfield Hospital for their professional care and support during Dad’s stay.
