Eleanor Krieger of Black River Commons in Cavendish Vermont passed away peacefully on September 20 after a long illness. She is survived by her seven children and their families: John and Kathy Krieger of Danbury, Connecticut; Robert Krieger of Cobbs Creek, Virginia; Marion and Mark Diunizio of Chester, Vermont; Paul and Sue Krieger of Herndon, Virginia; Nancy and Gordon Black of Cornish, New Hampshire; Barbara and George Ronan of Gloucester, Virginia; and Elizabeth and Joe Regele of Garrison, New York; and her eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Rosemary Moore and Doris MacGregor
Born of John Day and the former Margaret Prediger in Waterbury Connecticut on August 15, 1928, she received her RN degree at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, where she met her husband of sixty-one years, James, in the coffee shop. They raised their family in West Hartford Connecticut, where James was a founder of the Jefferson X-Ray Group at Hartford Hospital and Eleanor server on the board and as president of the Women’s’ Auxiliary. In retirement Jim and Eleanor split their time between Chester Vermont and Ponte Vedra Florida until Jim’s death in 2012.
Eleanor had been active in the Catholic Church all her life, most recently at Holy name of Mary in Proctorsville Vermont. She took great joy in her life-long love of crafts developed deep friendships with the Needlers and other groups wherever she lived. She will be missed by her family, her friends, her church community and all who knew her.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday Sept. 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Proctorsville. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
