He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Erin; sons Andrew (Trisha) and Hunter; granddaughter Audrey; mother Phyllis Herman; brother Michael Herman (Lisa); and sister Margot Herman Benn (Bobby).
Sean earned his undergraduate degree at UTC and his MBA/MHA at Baylor University, while serving honorably in the Army for 24 years, in 10 different duty stations, including Germany, where he was company commander of the 212th MASH, "last MASH standing." After his retirement from the Army, he became Director of Operations Quality Assurance at QTC Management, Inc., in Nashville, helping veterans through the VA claims process.
Sean was an involved father who enjoyed watching his boys ski and swim, at which they excel. He kept fit throughout his life, and spent many hours at the gym, while also indulging his love of woodworking and motorcycle riding. At extended family gatherings, he was known for his ability to nap through pretty much anything, and he was unfailingly gallant with Erin's many elderly eccentric aunts. He was the quintessential Nice Guy. His death was sudden and unexpected.
A graveside service will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, February 6, at 1:00 pm, after which guests will be received at the home of Tom and Leslie Wolfgang, 514 Minnetta Lane, Signal Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Senior Veterans, Inc. (seniorvets.org).
