He was the son of the late James Thomas Harris and Aliene Campbell Harris.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and of the Protestant faith.
Ray was a retired teacher with the Hamilton County School System having taught history and art at Sequoyah Vocational High School.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Becker Harris, daughter, Amy Harris, son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin and Tina Harris, two grandchildren, Doug and Holly Gill, brother, James Harris, sister, Jo Smith, all of Chattanooga, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
The family will hold a private graveside service at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
