Lester James Cawood

Lester James Cawood, 73, of Apison, Tennessee, known by friends as Jimmy passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. Jimmy was born in East Brainerd on November 2, 1943 to the late Ernest and Nina Ware Cawood. He attended school at Apison Elementary. He was an employee of the carpet industries for many years. Jimmy never met a stranger and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife Donna Sue Millaway, son Randall James Cawood, five siblings, several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy is survived by one step-daughter Connie Eldridge Brumfiel, one daughter Tereasa Cawood Wilson, one son Jason Todd (Rebecca) Cawood, nine grandchildren Tabitha Layman Ownbey, Tiffany Layman Andrews, Natasha Jordan, Morgan Cawood, Brandon Wilson, Heather Wilson, Beckah Wilson, Ahyana Jones-Cawood and Jessie Hickman, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Terry Evans of Grace Point Assembly of God officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, September 8, 2017 at the funeral home.
