She was born in Key West, Florida to the late Herman and Betty Cerezo. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Neva Casey and brother-in-law, G. L. Chambers.
Karen had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and it was evident in the way that she lived her life. She loved her family and was always thinking of others before herself.
She taught mathematics at Hamilton Heights Christian Academy and privately tutored for many years. She had a unique gift of teaching and passion for high school students. Her mission field was her classroom. She was also very involved with the basketball team as a stats keeper. She was an avid sports fan and loved playing card games.
She was a member of City Church of Chattanooga where she was active in the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team. Karen served as a volunteer with Tres Dias of Southeast Tennessee and was always giving of her time and talents.
Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Ernie Reno, three children, Krista Reno, of Minneapolis, MN, Kara Reno, Carson Reno (Macey), both of Chattanooga, TN, brother, Kelvin Cerezo (Charity), of Murfreesboro, TN, sister-in-law, Nancy Chambers, two brothers-in-law, Butch Reno (Mona), Gene “Poppy” Casey, two nieces, Kendall and Kadyn Cerezo and many other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, October 31, 2022, and from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at City Church of Chattanooga, 7122 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the church.
