Mr. Ball was born and raised in Chattanooga. He was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Ralph Penington Men’s prayer breakfast group, and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Switchman Foreman. He also had a love for golf, hunting and Indian artifacts.
John was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the European Theatre under General Patton. He joined the Army when he turned 18 and served in England, Belgium and Germany. He received many medals including rifleman, marksman, 2 bronze stars and the French Forragere award by the French Government.
After serving four years in combat, he came home from the war and married the ONLY love of his life since 12 years old, Billie Ball, surviving. They were married 72 years. Also surviving are his daughter, Lisa Sutton; grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel) Lusk, Janna Lusk and Zach Sutton; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Cora Ball; son, Tim Ball; daughter, Belinda Lusk; and brother, Bob Ball.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, June 18th at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon on Friday, June 19th at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
