Janis P. Sisson

Janis Petering Sisson died February 5, 2015. She was born 10/28/1937 in Albion, Michigan. She was raised on Signal Mountain, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl F. C. Petering and Helen Taylor Petering, her daughter Deidre Sisson Etheridge, and her sister Joan Petering Roberts. She was a devoted Catholic, served as a lector and sang in the choir for many years. She and her family previously resided in Muscle Shoals AL, Rome, GA, Cleveland Heights, OH, Fairlawn, NJ, and San Jose, CA. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Graham Lansford Sisson, Sr and her children Melissa Sisson (Carol Hayes), Kira Sisson Williams (Gene), Angela Sisson Bowman (John), Sandra Sisson Hightower (Greg), Emry Sisson (Amy), Graham Sisson, Jr (Victoria), and Chuck Sisson (Mary). She is survived by her grandchildren Kate Williams, Rachel Clark (Taylor), Holly Williams, Hollin Williams, Ryan Sullivan, Christopher Hightower, Emma Sisson, Graham Sisson III, Jack Sisson, Charlie Sisson, Bella Sisson, Jennifer Etheridge, and Matthew Etheridge; great granddaughter Sophie Neilson; sisters Judith P Brown (Hugh) and Jeannine P Arnold (Thomas); and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held Saturday February 7 at 11:00 a.m., at St Gerard Majella Catholic Church, 3049 Lafayette Rd, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday in the sanctuary at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church.
