He was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church and the Free Masons Lodge #430. He was a 50 year member of the Alhambra Shrine Temple.
Mr. Kelly was a World War II Veteran serving in Rostacht, Germany where he was a prisoner of war; he received the Purple Heart, the Victory Medal, two Bronze Stars, the ATO Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a longtime farmer and builder and was former president of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau; a member of the City Farmer’s Club; and served on the Board of Directors of the Chattanooga Milk Producers.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Janice Kelly; son, John Patrick (Suzanne) Kelly of Ooltewah; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Robert Medearis officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel.
