It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Ann Varnell “Evie” announces her passing. Evie died at the age of 66 in the comfort of her home on Monday, December 26, 2022 after her battle with ALS where she finally met our Lord.
Evie graduated from Hixson High School. Then she preceded to make a career of becoming a parts manager for Dodge and Chrysler and was most recently employed by Ok Auto Center. Evie was a natural to work with the public with her friendly smile and her great communication skills.
Evie was a loving sister, aunt and friend. She was loved by many for her generosity to people and animals alike. Her love of animals was unsurpassed. She rescued her fair share of dogs over her lifetime who all then lived their best lives. To add, if Evie saw or found any animal that was not in good conditions, she made sure to find them new loving homes to live out their best lives as well.
She’s known among her family and friends for making the best mac and cheese, no bake cookies and German Chocolate cake you’ve ever eaten.
Evie made every human she met feel at ease and welcomed no matter the circumstances or event. Evie Varnell NEVER met a stranger in her life. Everyone who knew her felt her big heart.
She enjoyed spending time with her sister’s, playing cards, cooking and making wonderful memories to last a lifetime.
Evie is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Millikan of Chattanooga, TN. She is survived by her three sisters, Christine Morgan (of Chattanooga, TN), Pam Couch (of Chattanooga, TN), and Jackie Winters (of Chattanooga, TN). Her son, Charles Daniel Varnell Jr. “Danny”, her grandson, Charles Daniel Varnell III., Her nieces, Dr. Mary Morgan (of Chattanooga, TN), Kim Morgan (Ringgold, GA), preceded in death by her niece, Jennifer Winters (of Chattanooga, TN). Her nephews, Teddy Owensby and Patrick Owensby (both of Chattanooga, TN).
Evie will be forever remembered by all those who were blessed enough to have met her.
Gone, but never forgotten!
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the Chapel of the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Julia Henry of Chattanooga, TN for her kindness and amazing nursing skills, the Hearth Hospice team of Chattanooga and the staff at CHI Memorial.
