Edsel Henry Kuykendall

Edsel Henry Kuykendall, age 89, of Chattanooga, TN died on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Riverwood Remembrance Village in Rome, GA. Mr. Kuykendall was born in Ooltewah, TN on September 26, 1927 to the late Sherman H. and Emma Parker Kuykendall. Mr. Kuykendall was a retired Boilermaker from Combustion Engineering and retired self-employed carpenter.

Mr. Kuykendall was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Wilda Mae Stafford Kuykendall on May 17, 2016. Also preceding him in death are sisters Cora Lee Maples, Gertrude Walker, Nell Cross and Dorothy Dill.

Mr. Kuykendall is survived by his daughter, Mary Nell Sexton of Rome, GA, two sons, Gerald (Dalphna) Kuykendall and Jerome (Sonya) Kuykendall, all of Cleveland, Tennessee. Surviving grandchildren include Melissa Kuykendall Porter of Chattanooga; Alex Kuykendall, of Riceville; Dawn Jackson of Bradenton, FL; Denise O’Daniel, Douglas Kuykendall, Jeremy Kuykendall, Misti Michaels, Greg Hayes, and Brent Miolen, all of Cleveland. Several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren survive as well.

Services for Mr. Kuykendall will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Doyle McCracken officiating, with internment to follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens East. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers include: Alex Kuykendall, Douglas Kuykendall, David Michaels, John O’Daniel, Tanner Ramsey and Michael Vining.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (please note for Team Riverwood) at 922 East Morris Street, Dalton, GA 30721 or Homestead Hospice, 1 North Tennessee Street, Cartersville, GA 30120.
