Edgar "Eddie" Oliver Wilson, Jr.

He was the son of the late Edgar Oliver Wilson, Sr., and Mary Agnes Horton Wilson and was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Eddie graduated from Valdosta State and received his master’s degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. His love and dedication to the Lord was evident by his service to his church family. He served 35 years on the staff of Silverdale Baptist Church as the minister of music and youth and later as the minister of the senior adults. He deeply loved his family, was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, and loved planning events, especially ones involving Christmas.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Lee Wilson, of Ooltewah, TN, son, Patrick (Hannah) Wilson, of Soddy Daisy, TN, two brothers-in-law, Mike Conry and Mark (Lynn) Conry, a niece and nephew, aunts and an uncle, and many special cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Silverdale Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Walliser, Rev. Steve Shoemaker and Pastor James Dwight Herrod officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN, with Tony Bateman, Mike Cate, Kevin Casey, Mark Hydas, Jason Touchet, Glen Meadows, David Klein and Ken Casey serving as pallbearers. The ministerial staff at Silverdale Baptist Church and the PrimeTimers Senior Adult Group will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Silverdale Baptist Church.
