Prudence Cole Davies passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 17th. Born on October 11, 1947, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Prudence was the youngest of three sisters born to Dr. Ralph and Elinor Cole, both deceased.
Prudence is survived by her two sisters, Patricia Fraher and her partner John Houston, and Pam Tompkins and her husband Fred, niece Tara Hathaway and her husband, Doug and three sons Raeburn, Jacob and James, nephew Guy Tompkins, and her two stepdaughters, Jennifer Davies and Carolann Ouellette.
It was Prudence’s love of travel, exploration, meeting new people and helping others that drew people to her. She was a wonderful storyteller and loved to share the experiences she had throughout her lifetime. Prudence’s passions beyond travel included gardening, birdwatching, reading, cooking and entertaining. She excelled at interior design, holiday decorating and creating exquisite table settings. Her greatest passion and love of her life, however, was her adoring husband, H. Norman Davies, who passed away in September 2020.
Prudence and Norm traveled extensively often to exotic and “off-the-beaten” path destinations and lived in many places over the years from California and Pennsylvania to Hawaii and Berlin, Germany. They settled in Chatham, MA building their forever home on the property on Orleans Road that had been home to Norm’s parents. Prudence shortly thereafter joined the Women’s Club of Chatham and the Goose Pond Book Club of which she was an active member. Throughout her many moves and travels, she made lifelong friendships. Those friendships were precious to Prudence.
A celebration of life for both Prudence and Norm will be held Summer 2025 at the Cole’s family cottage at Granite Point in Maine, another place that brought joy and held so many special memories for Prudence.
