Peter Allen Norcross son of the late Vernon and Ruth (Grover) Norcross age 75 of Chatham MA formerly of Brockton MA passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2012. Peter was the beloved husband of Marylyn Ruth (Williams) Norcross for 49 years. Peter is survived by four daughters; Melynda Routson and husband Jeffrey Routson of Taunton, Jennifer Mitchell and husband William Mitchell of Plymouth, Kristelle Scanlon and husband Brian Scanlon of Dudley, and Kristin Doyle and husband James Doyle of Dudley. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; William Mitchell Jr, Brendan Peter Mitchell, James Nicholas Mitchell, Julianne Ruth Mitchell, Michael Luke Mitchell, Liam Brian Scanlon, Grace Marylyn Scanlon, Shawn Peter Scanlon, Ryan James Doyle, and Owen Peter Doyle.
Peter was born in Portland, Maine and moved to Brockton as a young child. He attended Brockton Public Schools and entered the United States Air Force upon graduating from Brockton High School. Peter served his country in Okinawa Japan during the Korean War. He returned home to Brockton and enrolled at Boston University where he earned an Associates Degree in Business. He then continued his education at the University of New Mexico where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Peter worked many years as a merchandise buyer for Stop & Shop, Medi Mart and Paperama. Upon retirement, Peter and Marylyn moved to the placed they loved, Chatham. Peter and Marylyn were active members of the First United Methodist Church of Chatham. He got great enjoyment through his involvement with the alter renovations, organ replacement and steeple repairs. He drove the bus for the Chatham Council on Aging. Peter volunteered for many seasons for the Chatham A's Cape Cod League Baseball Club and was a member of the Chatham Retired Men's Club. Peter and Marylyn were avid travelers and loved sharing times with family and close friends in their home away from home in Aruba.
His visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Chatham, Main St. Chatham, followed by his burial in Union Cemetery, Chatham, MA.
