Matthew John Czuchra, beloved son, brother, uncle and dear friend passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Tuesday, August 23, at the age of 56. He is survived by his loving mother, Rosemary Czuchra, his five siblings – Bernadette (Ken) Clevenger, Bertrand (Alison) Czuchra, Lyle (Lisa) Czuchra, Darryl (Deborah) Czuchra, Rosemary (Gregory) Teegarden, his six nephews – Andrew Czuchra, Benjamin (Allison) Czuchra, Alexander Czuchra, Nicholas Czuchra, Matthew Joseph Czuchra, Wesley Teegarden and his niece Ava Teegarden. He is preceded in death by his father Bertrand A. Czuchra.
Matthew grew up in Tolland, Connecticut, but spent most of his adult life living on Cape Cod in Brewster, Massachusetts. The Czuchra family’s time spent at their summer home near Sheep Pond, Brewster, sparked an early passion for fishing and nature. He attended Tolland High School and pursued coursework at Manchester and Cape Cod Community Colleges. Matthew moved to Brewster full time in 1998. He worked in several professions including photography, co-owner of boat repair shop, and medical technician. Matthew was aCertified Surgical Sterilization Technician and at the time of his death was working at the University of Vermont Medical Center. His primary passions in life were fishing and nature photography. In recent years he greatly enjoyed the opportunities to travel and explore New England at the various locations where he was working. He was a talented photographer and his photographs showed his keen eye for the beauty of nature. He had an incredible knack for finding fish, birds and animals of all types. Matthew regularly shared his love of fishing with all of his family and friends and was always taking them out fishing at all hours to enjoy the beauty of the lakes and oceans he knew so well. He was the quintessential fun “Uncle Matt” and had close bonds with all his nephews, his niece and his friends’ children. His boundless love for them will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Matthew was a faithful friend, humble, loving and generous hearted. He was always ready to help out anyone who needed a hand and gave of himself without hesitation. He will be deeply missed as a son, brother, uncle and friend by all who knew him.
A funeral service is scheduled to take place at Holy Redeemer parish in Chatham, Massachusetts, on Saturday October 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at 400 East, located in East Harwich, MA at the intersection of Rt.137 and Rt. 39.
