James Mead Falvey Jr. of Chatham, MA passed away on July 6, 2023. Jim was born September 11, 1966 in Belmont, Mass. He was the son of the late James M. Falvey Sr. and Mary Virginia Maher Falvey. Jim attended Belmont public schools and received a B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College. Upon graduating, Jim moved to New York City to begin a long and successful career in the financial services industry, including earning recognition from the Wall Street Journal as the top international oil analyst at the age of 30.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved golf, tennis, skiing, and fishing. His love of the ocean and fishing is what brought him to Chatham in 1996. When Jim was not traveling the world for work, he spent as much time with his son as possible. Liam was the most important person in his life. Jim was so proud of his academic and athletic achievements.
Jim could also be found spending time with his vast network of friends and extended family. He loved sharing Chatham with all those who came to visit and made sure to get them out on the ocean and enjoy the local seafood.
More recently Jim enjoyed walking Norm, the Tibetan Mastiff he fostered and adopted, up and down Main Street, to the delight of shop owners, locals and visitors they met along the way.
Jim is survived by his son Liam James Falvey, a sophomore at Boston College, his sister Jennifer M. Falvey of Chatham, two uncles, an aunt and several cousins.
A celebration of his life will take place in Chatham in September, for more information please email Jennifer M.
