Honore Perrine Doelger, 81, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2011.
10 months ago, she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Carl Peter Doelger III. They had both been residents of Liberty Commons.
Honore was born October 4, 1931 in New York City. October 4th was also the birthday of her father and one brother. She attended Marymount H.S. in NYC on a full scholarship followed by Endicott Junior College.
Following school, Honore worked as an assistant to the founder and editor of Gourmet magazine. Their offices were located in the penthouse of The Plaza Hotel in NYC.
At the time of her wedding to Peter in 1962, a pen and ink drawing of Honore and Peter appeared on the cover of Gourmet. This was the only time people, not food or drink, appeared on the cover.
Following their working lives, Honore enjoyed a long and interesting retirement on Cape Cod. This included extensive volunteering, especially at The Pantry and as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Redeemer Parish in Chatham.
Honore is survived by her sister, Marie P. Baum of Greenport, NY and Alfred Perrine of Scarsdale, NY and many nephews, nieces, and godchildren.
Calling hours will be at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA on Friday, November 4, 6-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Avenue, Chatham, MA on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 10:00 am, Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Chatham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Honore’s memory to Holy Redeemer Church.
