Damian J. Macaluso

Damian John Macaluso passed away at his home in Chatham, MA on October 22, 2020. Beloved husband to Marylou, married in 1973, Damian and Marylou raised three daughters. Kate Macaluso of Brooklyn, NY, Jennie McCashin (son-in-law Stephen McCashin) of Orinda, CA, and Laura Macaluso of Talent, OR. He was a cherished, loving and playful Popi to his five grandchildren: Koa Macaluso, Maeve, Thomas Damian (Teddy), Millie and Hugh McCashin.

Damian is survived by his brother Joseph Macaluso of Sparta, NJ as well as Joe’s children JoAnn Devereaux, Mary-Beth Macaluso and Jay (Bonnie) Macaluso; Damian’s sister Ann Marie and her husband Myran Gapski, their children Amy Gapski and Allison (Joshua) Puzycki. Damian is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Amelia Macaluso and his sister-in-law Jackie Macaluso.

Born in Bristol, CT in 1947, Damian attended Central High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. Damian is a decorated Marine having served in the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines from 1968-1969. Among his many commendations are three Purple Heart Medals and a Silver Star, all representative of his dedicated service. Damian took great pride in serving his country and honored the American flag. He later received his MBA from

Pepperdine University. Damian served in many operational and executive positions throughout his manufacturing career. He retired as President of Metal Industries in Clearwater, FL.

Damian’s greatest love was his wife Marylou. Their marriage spans four decades and their love is unending. They lived in six different states throughout their life together, but their retirement years exploring Cape Cod were among their best. Damian also enjoyed historical biographies, baseball games called by Vin Scully, his fruitful vegetable garden and texting with his daughters. He was an esteemed member of the Chatham Porch and Polo Society (a faithful gathering of friends that enjoy coffee, cars and occasional mischief). Through this group, Damian made friendships that brought him incredible joy and laughter. He loved collecting

awards for displaying his 1950 Studebaker Champion, aka “The Stude”, at various local car shows. Damian’s reach was vast. He touched many lives, always for the better. He was consistent, loyal, generous and kind. He spoke when it mattered and was always quick with a laugh or a reassuring word.

As per Damian’s wishes, his immediate family celebrated his life privately and later with the Chatham Porch and Polo Society at their beloved gathering spot, Chatham Cookware. He will forever be in our hearts.
