He was born in Springfield, IL, on September 7, 1954, the son of John H. and Alberta Ruth (Wallner) Turley. Tom married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Debbie Turley on June 23, 1973, in Springfield, IL.
Tom attended New Berlin High School. He retired from Sangamo Construction, where he was highly regarded and treated like family. Tom enjoyed his work and had a passion for pouring concrete. He was a true family man. Tom had a knack for making friends and also enjoyed keeping busy by building and remodeling around his home. He especially loved fishing in the Springfield area and the Gulf of Mexico. Tom was a member of Laborers Local #477 for 51 years. He was known to be very strong willed, outgoing, and outspoken.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John L. and Charles Turley.
Tom is survived by his wife, Debbie; sons, Tom (Sarah) Turley and Tim (Rachel, “Tom’s Bestie”) Turley; grandchildren, Breanna (Daniel) Hale, Taylor Turley, and Trenton Turley; one great-granddaughter on the way; step-grandchildren, Rick and Parker; siblings, James (Jacqui) Turley, Margaret (Charles) Baumgardner, Diana Crow, Deon (Theresa) Nation, Letha (James) Jessie, and Wally (Johna) Nation; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. A Ceremony will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Jonah Schultz officiating.
Private family burial will be held at a later date.
