Marnie was born in Springfield on April 27, 1935, the daughter of Lyle and Marjorie (Jones) Quigley. Marnie married John W. Garrison, Jr., on February 14, 1952, at Westside Christian Church. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Marjie Sullivan.
Marnie attended Feitshans High School and later took courses at Springfield Southeast High School to earn her diploma. She devotedly practiced her faith and attended Third Presbyterian Church since the 1950s. Marnie loved her family and stayed home to raise her children and grandchildren. As her children got older, she worked at Morton’s clothing store. Marnie was an avid reader, loved bowling, cooking, and traveling with her husband. She was a deacon and member of the choir at her church.
Marnie is survived by her daughter, Kim J. (Robert T.) Mosel of Steger; her sons, Tracy L. (Rosemary) Garrison of Glenarm and John L. Garrison of Greenville; grandchildren, Jamison D. (Anna Miller) Sullivan, Michelle L. (Daniel J.) Bryant, Robert L. Sullivan, Jordan A. Mosel, Sarah E. Garrison, Casey J. Garrison, Savannah T. Mosel, and Austin J. Garrison; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh N. Sullivan, Jorie L. Bryant, Keira S. Sullivan, Ella L. R. Bryant, Marley M. Sullivan, Patrick J. Sullivan, Conor W. Sullivan, Kohen L. Garrison, and Aiden N. Phillips; devoted caregiver, Laci Rebbe Privott; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will host a visitation on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 N. 7th St., Springfield, with Pastor Nicole Wegele officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
