Mr. William A Buckley

William Anthony Buckley of Esmont, Virginia died March 14, 2023 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Bill was born on September 16, 1930 in Salem, Massachusetts to Timothy and Helen Buckley. He was raised and educated in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Bill entered the U.S. Army in 1947 and served 30 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He was employed by a law firm in San Jose, California and by the Superior Court of California prior to full retirement in 2001. Bill and his wife then relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia. On August 14, 1951, Bill married Yolande Bredillet, his wife of 55 years. Yolande died on February 2, 2007. Bill is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Yolande and her husband William H. Brawner of Granby, Massachusetts, and Kim Maureen and her husband Michael L. Knowles of Esmont, Virginia. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kyrsten Mecum, Matthew Knowles, and Luke Knowles. Bill was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Richard Peter Buckley, and sister Alice Catherine Buckley. Cremation arrangements will be handled by Teague Funeral Services. Inurnment will follow a graveside service on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Monticello Memory Gardens.
